Entry requirements
A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade D, preferably including English, and an Entry Level Maths or an Art and Design Diploma Level 1. You will be asked to attend an interview where you will show your portfolio of art and design work.

What will I study?
If you are creative and interested in pursuing an exciting introduction to art and design, then this is the course for you. You will enjoy working on all aspects of art and design in a purpose built creative studio with excellent equipment, media and materials.
The course involves working on projects in a rich variety of fields such as: painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, digital design and mixed media printmaking. Students work in an art and design studio and also spend time in the Apple Mac and mixed media studios and enjoy a very broad range of media that prepares them for the next stage of study. You will research the work of artists and designers in a historical and contemporary context. There will be opportunities to go on organised trips to Art Galleries.
An important part of the course is to study English alongside your studio projects to prepare you for employment or a Level 3 course in the College. You will be able to retake English and Maths GCSE or Functional Skills as necessary during the year.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment of your portfolio of project work, with feedback on your progress in one-to-one tutorials as well as an externally set project with a new and exciting theme each year.
Costs
There is a contribution of £50 towards course materials to be paid at enrolment.
What could it lead to?
The Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades A*- C. You may want to progress to one of our Extended Diplomas at Level 3 such as: Art and Design, Graphic Design, 3D Design Crafts or Fashion and Clothing. There may be the opportunity to go on to employment at assistant level in an art/craft or design-related profession.
